Canada: A World Leader In Clean Energy
October 14, 2009

Today, Canada is strengthening its position as a world leader in clean energy.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach announced the construction of one of the world’s first fully-integrated carbon capture and storage projects.

Carbon capture and storage is an important and effective way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from large industrial plants.

It will help Canada balance our need for energy with our need to protect the environment.

As part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan, new clean energy projects like this one at TransAlta’s plant near Edmonton will create quality jobs for Canadians, help our environment, and prepare our economy for the future.

Our Conservative government is committed to a 20% reduction of greenhouse gases by 2020. Carbon capture and storage projects will help us to reach that goal.

By investing in innovative clean energy, our Conservative government is taking action to protect the environment and ensure a better future for Canadians and their families.
