Our Conservative government’s Economic Action Plan is working.
Statistics Canada recently reported that employment in Canada increased by 31, 000 jobs in September. This helped lower the unemployment rate from 8.7% to 8.4%.
One of the most popular and successful features of our Plan is the Home Renovation Tax Credit. Families can save up to $1,350 on their 2009 tax bill by investing in eligible home renovations such as building a deck, painting a house, remodelling a bathroom, and others listed at www.actionplan.gc.ca.
The credit is helping to create jobs for local tradespeople, and increase sales at hardware and building supply stores in our communities. It’s also helping families save while upgrading the value of their homes.
This is good news. But the best part is that it’s not too late to get in on the savings.
Families have until before February 1st, 2010 to complete their eligible renovations for the tax credit.
However, despite all the ways that the Home Renovation Tax Credit is helping Canadians, Michael Ignatieff’s Liberals voted against it.
They voted against help for homeowners. They voted against action for local businesses and tradespeople. And they voted against improving the quality of life for Canadian families.
The Conservative government is fighting the recession. Michael Ignatieff and the Liberals are fighting the recovery.
