Prime Minister Stephen Harper hosts roundtable on Canada’s Economic Action Plan
March 25, 2010

LONDON, ONTARIO – Prime Minister Stephen Harper today hosted a roundtable for southwestern Ontario business and community leaders to discuss Canada’s Economic Action Plan.

“Jobs and growth are the Government’s focus going in to the second year of Canada’s Economic Action Plan,” said the Prime Minister.  “Business and community leaders, like those I met with today, are key players in Canada’s economic future.”

The Prime Minister hosted the roundtable at London’s Spencer Leadership Centre, which is part of the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.  As part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan, the Government of Canada recently invested $25 million towards the construction of a new building for the Richard Ivey School of Business.  The funding comes from the Knowledge Infrastructure Program.  The project creates immediate jobs and economic growth in the London area while contributing to the education and training of Canada’s future business leaders.

“The Richard Ivey School of Business project is not just creating jobs in the London area,” said Prime Minister Harper.  “Our investment is also ensuring that graduating students have the tools they need for success, now and in the future.”

A major component of Canada’s Economic Action Plan, the Knowledge Infrastructure Program invests in the renewal of infrastructure projects at colleges, universities, CEGEPs, polytechnic schools and institutes of technology across Canada.  It meets and responds to the needs of current and future students, while creating jobs in communities from coast to coast to coast.
